I feel like some kind of shadow. Another slave to the weak.

Sadly this camera isn't mine.

Fortunately, G just recently got a NEX-5. Sort of a hybird or the cross between a point and shoot and a DSLR. It's a sexy beast--although, I may just be saying that due to camera envy. Spending the weekend snapping shots made me realize how much I do love taking pictures, something I haven't had much time or equipment to do with my contact being MIA.

Anyways, I'll hopefully be updating with a couple more photography posts in the near future...

However, this post isn't about that. It's more about the fact that after many months of some back and forth debate I've finally caved and got a deviant art page--a fact that some people seemed surprised by the fact that I didn't have one yet.

It was easy enough to dismiss back when I didn't have anything to show, but now that I've finally got my creative side in gear, I suppose there's not a lot of reason not to have one. For all the issues that deviantART may have, it is nice to see a community of artists getting together, being able to work with each other and get feedback from. That and the fact that I'll be able to have a sort of digital portfolio, it's kind of a win win situation.

I guess I've just been scared about showing my work to people, to complete strangers. Even having a blog is a big step for me, putting myself out there and on the line to be mocked or ridiculed. It's never easy for anyone to bare their souls----especially on such an open forum as the internet is.

Back in high school, I didn't show a lot of people my writing. Something I was proud about, but always scared of having someone dislike or rip apart. It was often misunderstood, sadly the whole vampire thing wasn't popular in my day, and even the few people who did have something negative to say made it a lot harder to show off to the next person.

However, the positives would seem to outweigh the negatives at this point. There is only so much I can do without having feedback or working off a community. I'm hoping this is just a small step in gaining confidence in my work and being able to defend it. Sure, I don't see a career in art for me, however a serious hobby? Sure, why not.

So if you don't see anything updated here. Hopefully the ol' deviant art page is hard at work being updated.

But between you and me...could you please keep the mean comments to yourself?

Welcome to the world of photography. With the amount we took, I'm gonna take some time trying to learn Adobe Lightroom and Perhaps CS5. I'll have both ready for you as well as Aperture if you like. You can borrow my cam whenever. Just take good care of her. Haven't even named her yet :P

    Suggestions?

PS: Blogger does a bad job with that awesome shot of you. Its soo low res :(

  2. Does this mean I need to get a new blog space to appease your discerning taste?

    God. How snobby :P

Although this may give me an excuse to get a pretty new website.
